Christmas Market
From the end of November until the 24th of December, the Montreux Christmas Market each year features 146 decorated and illuminated chalets along the quays of Geneva's Lake.
In the best tradition of Christmas, crafts, tastings of regional specialities, mulled wine and thousands of gift ideas are there for you every year at this superb market.
In this warm and festive atmosphere, you will also discover exceptional musical entertainment and a discovery trail unique in Switzerland: a 500-metre cross-country ski run on the shores of Lake Geneva!
Information
This year, Montreux Noël offers late-night shopping on the following days:
- Sunday to Wednesday, merchant stands will be open until 8 p.m.
- Thursday, Friday and Saturday, merchant stands will be open until 10 p.m.
- Food and drink stands will be open until 11 p.m.
- Saturday 24 December, the Christmas Market will close at 5 p.m.
The Covered Market, a perfect meeting place!
A new decoration has been placed under the Covered Market, a festive illumination gives the structure a special allure for the Christmas season.
The Santa Claus workshop and his magic tool box in a new setting
One more magical place : the Covered Market houses a Children’s Kingdom with possibilities of making many different little gifts to give at the next Christmas party. Candle-making and making of sweet treats !
Opening hours :
Tuesday to Friday : 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday : 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Lumberjack Village
The lumberjacks will spoil you in their cabinwith delicious hot teas and pizzas. Their village is a not-to-be-missed classic where conviviality reigns supreme. Tongues are untied, stomachs are satisfied and friendships are formed! Meeting place and destination: the giant Christmas tree that sheds the glow of its thousand lights on the city.
The local companies will take care with managing the hut of the lumberjacks in the next dates:
- The Ecumenical Round Table: from November 24th till November 30th, 2011
- The Association of service clubs of the Vaud Riviera: from December 1st till December 7th, 2011
- The Swiss Alphorn Academy: from December 8th till December 14th, 2011
- Swiss Romand Association of Families of Children with Cancer: from December 15th till December 24th, 2011
Transportation
Train
Set in the heart of Montreux between the Place du Marché and the Suisse Majestic Hotel, the Christmas Market is located near the Swiss Federal Railway station. We therefore recommend that visitors come by train.

Automobile
During the week, visitors to the Christmas Market can park their vehicles in one of the 4 underground car parks in the town of Montreux. They are located near the Christmas Market.
On weekends, cars are directed to car parks at the edge of town. Shuttle buses ensure visitors’ transportation to the centre of the Christmas Market as of 12 noon. Parking is free.
Round-trip shuttle bus service: CHF 5 (free for children under 16 years of age), payable on-site.
Carsharing
The e-covoiturage.ch association proposes you a free service, to save money on your transports, a way to restrict pollution, a friendly moment to go together by car to our beautiful event.
